Description

The Manufacturing Technician II is a mid-level hands-on production professional responsible for performing complex assembly, test, troubleshooting, and process support activities. This role independently executes precision manufacturing tasks, supports engineering changes, drives process improvements, and serves as a technical resource for production teams in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate mechanical/electrical assembly and testing of components and systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, equipment faults, and assembly discrepancies.
  • Support engineering with prototype builds, validation activities, and production transitions.
  • Document test data, assembly notes, and deviations according to quality procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to implement process improvements.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in assembly, test, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working in high-reliability manufacturing environments involving RF rotary joints, slip rings, FORJs, and precision electromechanical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of precision machining, mechanical tolerances, and rotating assembly interfaces.
  • Ability to support prototype builds, engineering evaluations, and troubleshooting for complex RF/microwave assemblies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, and CUI requirements; ability to follow controlled manufacturing and documentation processes.
  • Comfort working hands-on with machinists, engineers, and quality inspectors to resolve build or test issues.
  • Ability to accurately document build steps, deviations, and test results in ERP/MRP and quality systems.
  • Support continual improvement initiatives to standardize work instructions, tooling, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Understanding of material handling requirements for sensitive RF components and precision assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, assembly diagrams, and CAD models.
  • Strong ownership mindset with ability to escalate issues early and support efficient root-cause investigations.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of hands-on manufacturing or technical assembly experience.
  • Independently performs moderately complex assembly and test work.
  • Creates simple documentation and supports prototype builds.
  • High proficiency with hand tools, measurement instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Identifies minor production issues and performs basic troubleshooting.
  • Must be a US Citizen or be authorized to work for any employer
