Job Description - Manufacturing Trainer

Job Description

Victaulic is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Trainer who brings real instructional expertise — not just shop floor familiarity. In this role, you'll own the full training lifecycle for our production workforce: assessing skill gaps, designing and delivering hands-on training for welders and machine operators, and partnering with instructional designers to build structured process documentation and learning support materials that stick.

This is a role for someone who understands both how manufacturing works and how adults learn. You'll work directly with shop employees to build competency in welding processes (GMAW-P, GTAW, carbon and stainless), machinery operation, and coating — while also contributing to the development of training programs, SOPs, and visual job aids that support long-term workforce development across the facility.

Responsibilities:  

  • Evaluate employees and identify weaknesses in production skills. 

  • Identify and conduct training needs according to individual skill levels. 

  • Work alongside with shop employees to develop new skills in the manufacturing process (including coating). 

  • Present the technical data and supply training requirements to employees through PowerPoint presentations and short videos. 

  • Encourage employees for training and identify potential candidates for progression. 

  • Track employee success and progress.

  • Assist in rollout and communication of all the training programs on a timely basis.

  • Prepare and deliver manufacturing training sessions and measure effectiveness of training program based on success rate. 

  • Train and help develop employees on operation of specific machinery. 

  • Train and upkeep records for forklift and crane certifications. 

  • Assist with FEM/5S program as needed. 

 

Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes):  

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience in a manufacturing/steel fabrication environment required.

  • Computer literacy of Microsoft Windows software such as Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

  • Working knowledge of arc welding processes for carbon, stainless and alloy metals preferred.

  • Familiarity with liquid and powder type coatings preferred.

  • Familiarity with ASTM specifications, AWWA standards and AWS/ASME welding codes desired.

  • Good understanding of shop math (fraction to decimal) and ability to read tape measure, and measuring tools (caliper, micrometers) preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints desired.

  • Good written and oral communication skills required.

  • Good problem-solving capabilities desired.

  • Must be able to work independently, efficiently and be self-motivated and detail oriented.

  • Robotic welding experience with programing preferred
