Maternity Leave - 4th Teacher

 St. Catherine of Siena School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Fourth Grade Maternity Leave Substitute Teacher to provide continuity of instruction and a nurturing classroom environment during a teacher's maternity leave.

The substitute teacher will be responsible for implementing the established fourth-grade curriculum, maintaining classroom routines and expectations, supporting student learning and social-emotional development, and fostering the Catholic identity of St. Catherine of Siena School.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction for fourth-grade students.
• Follow and implement lesson plans and curriculum established by the classroom teacher and school.
• Teach core academic subjects, including Religion, Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment.
• Establish clear expectations for student behavior and classroom procedures.
• Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required classroom records.
• Communicate professionally and appropriately with parents and guardians.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and school administration.
• Support students' social-emotional growth and individual learning needs.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, prayer, and other responsibilities as assigned.
• Incorporate the Catholic mission and values of St. Catherine of Siena School into daily classroom life.
• Model and encourage the school's commitment to Be Loving, Be Faithful, Be St. Catherine's.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Illinois teaching license or appropriate substitute teaching credentials preferred/required as applicable.
• Elementary education experience preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students and families.
• Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of St. Catherine of Siena School.

Schedule and Compensation

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, during the regular school day
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks/months, beginning Mid November - Early February

    -  Post Maternity Leave Position - Teaching Aide work available for continued school support
Position: Part-time, unbenefited

Pay rate range: $20 - $25 per hour
