Shift/schedule: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Maternity Unit Coordinator's primary job function is to perform clerical duties associated with the operation of the unit and completes birth certificates and paternity document. Also may assist with a variety of basic patient care activities for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Supports each strategic value by providing excellent care to those we serve. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ohio Notary within 90 days of hire required

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Orders supplies.
2. Maintains patients' records.
3. Functions as a communications source for the nursing unit.
4. Records data, reports, and enters patient charges and other information.
5. Welcomes and greets those coming on the unit.
6. Uses the telephone etiquette according to SOMC's Code of Conduct.
7. Completes Birth Certificates and Paternity Documents in an accurate and timely manner.
8. Coordinates follow-up care with ODH, providers, and parents for initial abnormal results with the Newborn Metabolic Screening, Congenital Heart Screening, and Hearing Screen.
9. Performs basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients, when applicable.
10. Schedules patient follow-up appointments at discharge.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
12. Performs infant security prevention strategies with each baby.
