The responsibilities of the MDS Coordinator include:

  •  Completion of resident assessment and accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, and facility regulations.  
  •  Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission.  
  •  Prepare and transmit electronic charting and reports for Medicare. And ensuring the accuracy of medical records and coding procedures. 
  • Through knowledge of RAI process including components that Govern both the Federal and State Regulations with various payors. Through knowledge of PDPM guidelines and clinical areas that affect reimbursement under each of the components. 
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient specific comprehensive care plans.
  • Through knowledge on how to implement, maintain and sustain Nursing Restorative Program with all needed components and supportive documentation required.

Requirements

  The requirements for the MDS Coordinator include: 

  • Candidate must have a valid LPN/RN License. 
  • Nursing degree from accredited college or university. 
  • Preferred previous experience and knowledge in MDS.
  • Preferred experience in long term care setting.
