Job Description - Mechanic II MF

MECHANIC II

Hands-on skill. High-stakes equipment. Work you can point to.

Behind every natural gas compressor Cooper sends back into the field is a team that took it apart, made it right, and proved it works before it ever leaves the shop. In Marshall, Texas, that's the Mechanic II team — and we're looking for someone who takes the same pride in a clean teardown and a solid test run that we do.

If you know your way around manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, read prints without blinking, and want work that's physical, technical, and genuinely important to keep the country's energy infrastructure running, this is your shop.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Disassemble, reassemble, and test moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment.

  • Clean, inspect, and repair components using manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.

  • Read detailed prints and engineering specs, and use micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators to verify work.

  • Set up and run test operations to confirm equipment meets spec before it ships.

  • Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements.

  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment.

  • Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized, and follow all EHS policies and regulations.

WHO YOU ARE

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.

  • Comfortable interpreting drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.

  • Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, and stay active through a full shift.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Solid basic math skills and the ability to read schematics.

  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production requires.

  • A team player who can also run independently against engineering specs, with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

PREFERRED

  • 2 years of experience in operations or service center applications.

  • Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor equipment.

WHY JOIN COOPER

  • Benefits start day one — no waiting period on most plans.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability.

  • Voluntary life, AD&D, and long-term disability buy-up plans.

  • Voluntary accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans.

  • 401(k) with up to 5% company match — 100% vested on day one.

  • Maternity and parental leave, Arc Fertility Benefits, and an Employee Assistance Program for mental health support.
