Our client in Chicago not far from Oak Park is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to handle tool, jig and fixture design. Interested candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree or technical equivalent with at least 1 year of experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer

• Utilize SolidWorks or another CAD platform to design tooling, jigs and fixtures used in the metal forming industry
• Use SolidWorks or AutoCAD to detail the tool, jig and fixture designs
• Learn and be willing to develop your skills designing tight tolerance compound and progressive dies
• Serve as a liaison with the toolroom
• Be a technical liaison if required to work with customers on their design parameters to incorporate their specific requirements into your tooling designs

Requirements of the Mechanical Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or technical equivalent is a strong plus
• MS Office proficiency is a plus including the use of MS Excel as needed
• A knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks and/or other CAD software

Compensation for the Mechanical Engineer

The targeted annual starting salary for this position ranges from $85,000.00 to $130,000.00 depending on experience.
