Job Description - Mechanical Engineer II


Purpose of this Job: 

· This job is responsible for developing product in compliance with Sanden and customer requirements. 

· This role will include compressor / system component (HVAC / HX / ITMS) development, design, testing, and reporting with engineering theory / logic.

· This role will also include training for other engineers and staff.

· Other responsibilities include technical support for projects related to manufacturing.


Requirements

Principle Duties/Essential Functions:  

· Execute product development by achieving technical goal. 

· Achieve technical goals and task with PDCA for product development.

· Develop engineering solutions for suppliers, and cross functional members to meet required needs.

· Develop engineering laboratory testing methods and equipment.

· Coach / mentor engineers and other staff based on expertise.

Other Tasks/Responsibilities:

· Work with other Sanden locations to ensure product designs are consistent. 

· Provide technical support to internal customers.

· Conduct technical feasibility study for new product configuration.

· Support project team(s).

· Other projects as assigned by management.

· Establish engineering report independently.

· Prepare technical data for presentation material for internal and external customers as needed. 

· Responsible for awareness and compliance with company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Contributing to the effectiveness of the EHS policies and procedures by communicating and reporting unsafe conditions and/or non-compliances.

Education:

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (BSME preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

· 3+ years’ experience in automotive application design, compressor / system component (HVAC / HX / ITMS) development, FEA / CFD analysis knowledge, Vehicle & Compressor / System Testing knowledge / Skill, and HVAC / ITMS system knowledge. 

· Working knowledge of current computer technology and applications such as CAD, CAE and MS Office applications.

· Good communication skills with internal customers.

· Knowledgeable of IATF-16949 and ISO-14001 procedures.

· Hands on with vehicle and test equipment.

Licenses or Certifications:

· EPA-608, EPA-609 are desired

Physical Demands:

· Routine lifting of 25 lb. loads (compressors) may be necessary

· Possible exposure to high noise levels

· Possible exposure to chemicals (oils, refrigerants, solvents). 

· Exposure to environmental temperatures 30 - 110 degrees Fahrenheit

· Ability to work effectively under pressure and be able to prioritize workloads

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

· PPE may be required based on specific projects

Work Environment/Hours:

· Primary work area is in an office setting as well as lab environment. 

· Must work normal office hours plus provide support on evenings and weekend (as needed)

Primary Work Location:

· Wylie, TX

Travel Requirements:

· 0 – 10% domestic

· 0 – 5% international to countries such as but not limited to Japan, Mexico
