Job Description - Medical Assistant

  • Follow
    HIPAA guidelines and maintains yearly knowledge/training of guidelines.

  • Work
    may require standing and walking for extended periods. Must be able to life 25
    pounds. Must be able to assist patients to sitting and standing positions.

  • Coordinates
    back office flow and processes to assure efficiency and accuracy.  Facilitates smooth patient flow to decrease
    patient wait time and increase office efficiency.

  • Prepares
    patient and assist provider with examination and procedures, anticipating and
    providing necessary equipment and supplies.

  • Assures
    that rooms and equipment are clean and stocked appropriately and supply
    inventories are maintained.

  • Oversees
    medication and pharmacy information as well as past history information and
    verifies it in the system.

  • Assures
    proper collection of specimens and proper preparation of laboratory request
    forms to include proper coding and billing information,

  • Obtains
    laboratory results and reports, assures providers review and signature,
    notifies patient with results and recommendations (if necessary) after provider
    review, documents and files in EMR.

  • Collaborates
    with other health care team members regarding patient care issues.

  • Obtains
    vital signs (T, P, R, BP), weight, height, patient history and review of
    systems.

  • Sterilize
    medical equipment

  • Opening
    and Closing Clinic



Requirements

  • Self motivated and self directed, taking action
  • Personal Accountability
  • Understand the role of teamwork in providing a quality service
  • Understand the accuracy when dealing with patient records
  • Possess a general clerical aptitude and basic knowledge of record
    keeping

  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
    professionally and cheerfully, even under pressure

  • Provide strong problem solving abilities
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion as a rule
  • Able to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions and
    adhere to prescribed departmental routines

  • Bi -Lingual a plus, but not a requirement
  • 1 -2 years in OBGYN
