Medical Assistant- Allergy Department

Job Summary

The Allergy Department Associate will be primarily responsible for checking insurance eligibility and referral requirements for appointments and in-office services. As an associate you will directly assist patients, providers, and medical staff with scheduling needs and other patient-related tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

• Bring patients from the waiting room into exam rooms.


• Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic medical record.


• Assist with intake of medical history, medications, and drug allergies.


• Perform in office procedures including allergy skin testing, spirometry, immunotherapy injections, and biologic administration.


• Communicate efficiently with all staff members.


• Provide patient education.


• Obtain prior authorizations for specialty medications.


• Document accurately in the electronic medical record.


• Assist with faxes and phone calls.

Requirements

• 1-year medical assistant experience preferred


• Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant- Required


• Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (BLS/CPR)- Required (or willingness to obtain)

Work Environment

• This position will be performed on site in a medical office setting.

Pay Range

• $19.00-23.00/hour
