This role suits someone who is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in mental health care. It is an evening and weekend position, and it offers a path to grow within our organization.

Schedule and availability

  • Weekdays: availability after 4:00 PM at least 3 days/ week is required.

  • Weekends: availability for some Saturday and/or Sunday time slots is required.

  • Locations: shifts rotate across our three NYC clinics, so you must be comfortable commuting between sites.

  • Hours: part-time, hourly

Key responsibilities

Patient monitoring (per the Spravato REMS program)

  • Directly observe patients during self-administration of the nasal spray and for the full required post-dose period (at least 2 hours), until the patient is clinically stable for discharge.

  • Take and record blood pressure before dosing, about 40 minutes after dosing, and afterward as clinically warranted.

  • Monitor for sedation, dissociation, and respiratory depression, including continuous pulse oximetry.

  • Escalate promptly to the supervising provider for elevated blood pressure, low oxygen saturation, or any adverse event.

  • Confirm patients have arranged safe transportation home and understand they may not drive or operate machinery until the next day after restful sleep.

Documentation and compliance

  • Document vitals, observations, and adverse events in the EMR.

  • Follow controlled-substance handling, storage, and accountability procedures as directed by clinical staff.

Patient care and clinic operations

  • Room patients, prepare treatment areas, and maintain a calm, comfortable environment.

  • Provide reassurance and support to patients experiencing dissociation or anxiety during treatment.

  • Assist with check-in, check-out, and scheduling of follow-up sessions.

  • Assist with patient care coordination remotely, following up on care plans and monitoring patient progress

  • Maintain cleanliness, supplies, and equipment readiness (BP cuffs, pulse oximeters, emergency supplies)

  • Uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Hands-on experience monitoring patients receiving Spravato (esketamine), including REMS documentation.

  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before start).

  • Proficiency taking manual and automated blood pressure and using pulse oximetry.

  • Availability weekdays after 4:00 PM and on some weekend slots, plus ability to travel between three NYC locations.

  • Strong attention to detail and accurate, timely documentation.

  • Calm, compassionate, and professional manner with patients in mental health treatment.

  • Familiarity with EMR systems and comfortable using new systems and softwares

Preferred

  • CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification.

  • 1+ year of clinical experience, ideally in psychiatry, behavioral health, or infusion settings
