Job Description - Medical Laboratory Technician

Location:

Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center, 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37129

Position Type: Full-time
Responsibilities:

Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests in various areas including specimen processing, hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank.
Prepare and analyze samples in compliance with laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
Perform routine quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of laboratory results.
Operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot basic operational issues.
Accurately record and report test results.
Support patient care by managing timely collection and processing of laboratory specimens.
Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment by following infection control and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare providers regarding laboratory findings.

Requirements:

Education: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
Certification: AMT or ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Experience: Minimum of one year in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and software systems.
Commitment to upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations.
