Medical Office Assistant, Hepatology & Liver Transplant

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Medical Office Assistant position is to provide support with the daily activities of the clinic including answering phones and routing calls, scheduling appointments, patient referrals, greeting and registering patients. Responds to requests and questions from hospitals, patients and referring physician offices. Assists with billing and record retention activities.

What You’ll Do

• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner, explaining clinic procedures, answering routine questions, and
  facilitating adherence to schedule of appointments.
• Accurately schedules/cancels/confirms patients’ appointments according to the criteria of the department.
• Registers patients completely and accurately.
• Answers phone calls, takes accurate messages, and refers caller or message to appropriate party.
• Assists with billing procedures and forms, assists in the preparation of documents and forms sent to/received from referring
  physician directed.

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical experience required, including:
  • Receptionist duties
  • Scheduling responsibilities

• Experience in a medical office setting preferred, including some billing experience
• Strong computer skills required, including:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Office)
  • Experience with electronic registration and medical record systems

• Excellent customer service skills required
• Ability to multitask effectively
• Ability to present information clearly in:
  • One-on-one settings
  • Small group situations

• Bilingual skills (Spanish, Portuguese, or French) preferred

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly range for this position is TC/1550: Probationary Rate: $22.56- Job Rate: $23.06- Two (2) Year Rate: $23.75 per hour. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
