Job Summary and Responsibilities






As our Medical / Surgical Acute Nursing Manager, you will be a dynamic leader, guiding and empowering our nursing team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care through continuous growth and operational excellence.

Every day you will lead and mentor Registered Nurses, oversee clinical operations, and advocate for patient and team needs, driving professional development and achieving unit goals.

To be successful in this role, you will embody accountability and confidence with superior communication skills for all interactions. You'll skillfully navigate challenges, ensuring individual performance and overall unit success.

  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.
  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.

 

Provides clinical and operational leadership for the Surgical Acute (SAU) and Medical Acute (MAU) units, ensuring high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care.

  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations across both units, focusing on clinical throughput, productivity, and hospital standards.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee a combined staff of 92 (60 in SAU, 32 in MAU) and directly mentor 7 Nurse Shift Managers (4 in SAU, 3 in MAU).
  • Quality & Compliance: Maintain department survey-readiness and compliance with regulatory standards (Joint Commission) while driving performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strategic & Fiscal Management: Champion staff retention, manage resource allocation, and ensure fiscal accountability within departmental budgets.








Job Requirements






  • Bachelors Of Science in Nursing or equivalent education
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and one (1) year of leadership experience
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the State of California
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
