The VTD First Helper is a Lead person at the VTD and is required to safely lead the team and coordinate shop flow with the rest of the Melt Shop. The VTD team is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing heats from the EAF to be cast. The VTD First Helper oversees and ensures that the steel chemistry, slag, superheat, and timing of the heat are within the defined parameters for the required grade. The VTD First Helper will operate the alloy systems and stir system. The VTD First Helper is also responsible for assisting in the development of their 2nd helpers.
