Member Service Officer I

Bluestone Federal Credit Union is currently looking to fill an open Member Service Officer position. This individual will assist members with deposit and loan account support services. To succeed as a Member Service Officer, candidates should maintain a professional appearance, have a member focused attitude and should be courteous, helpful, accurate, and dependable.

This position is responsible for taking loan applications, finalize loan documentation, disburse loan proceeds, monitor insurance coverage on collateralized loans, answer and respond to incoming lending queries, open/close memberships/accounts/sub-accounts, open business accounts and promote products and services. This position will also act as a backup Member Service Representative (teller) occasionally.

The company provides basic life insurance, short term disability and long-term disability at no cost to the employee. All employees start with an accrual of 15 days of Paid Time Off (increases with tenure), are eligible for Holiday pay (generally 11 per year) and get their birthday off.

Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills, be detailed oriented, work well with others, have a high school diploma and be able to pass a background, bondability and credit check to the company’s satisfaction. 

Previous financial institution experience, preferably in a lending role.

Pay varies depending on experience starting from $21.96 per hour.

Hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm and rotating Saturday's 8:45am-12:15pm (about every three to four weeks).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional member service
• Actively solicit products & services with new and existing members in conjunction with the marketing and overall goals of the Credit Union
• Answer and respond to incoming phone queries
• Open and close memberships, accounts, and sub-accounts
• Respond to member’s inquiries regarding loan requests and loan related servicing matters. Present loan requests to persons with an approval authority
• Open accounts, respond to inquiries and process all transactions related to IRAs
• Finalize loan documentation and disburse loan proceeds
• Process, follow up and monitor lien notations on collateral
• Process & monitor insurance coverages on collateralized loans
• Process paid loan documents and related lien instruments
• Serve as back up Member Service Representative
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications, Education and Experience Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous financial institution and customer service experience helpful
• Must be bondable by insurance carrier and pass a credit and background check to company’s satisfaction

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills
• Accurate and detail oriented
• Typing, 10 key and computer experience
• Team player, work well with others, positive attitude
• Exceptional customer service skills

Working Condition and Physical requirements:

• Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must work in branch locations, not a work from home position
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 40 pounds.
