Position Summary
Mental Health Counselors at Seamark Ranch provide counseling and related behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families served through Seamark Counseling and Seamark Ranch. This role supports the mission and continued growth of Seamark Counseling by providing ethical, trauma-informed, and clinically appropriate care while helping expand counseling opportunities within the community.
This position maintains required clinical records and documentation, collaborates with staff, families, and community partners, and participates in supervision, training, and program development activities. Counselors who are not independently licensed will provide services under the supervision of our qualified licensed clinician as required by Florida law. This position should reflect Seamark Ranch's Christ-centered mission and commitment to serving children and families with compassion, professionalism, and integrity.
Essential Functions
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services within the counselor's scope of practice.
- Maintain a counseling caseload that may include both internally assigned clients and clients developed through outside referral relationships, community networking, or other approved outreach efforts.
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, provide ongoing therapeutic interventions, and update plans as clinically appropriate.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, discharge summaries, and other required records.
- Follow all applicable ethical, legal, licensing, confidentiality, insurance, and organizational documentation requirements.
- Participate in supervision as required by licensure status and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with Seamark Ranch staff, families, schools, medical providers, referral agencies, and community partners to support client care and continuity of services.
- Participate in treatment team discussions, staff meetings, trainings, and program development activities as requested.
- Support the growth of Seamark Counseling through professional communication, client retention, community relationships, and a willingness to assist with developing services and processes.
- Provide crisis support, safety planning, and appropriate referrals when clinically necessary.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and a high standard of care in all client and staff interactions.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and growth of Seamark Counseling and Seamark Ranch.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support campus-wide events and ministry activities as needed.
- Assist with additional duties, special projects, and administrative needs that support the growth and mission of Seamark Counseling and Seamark Ranch.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, or a closely related counseling field required.
- Must be one of the following:
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in good standing;
- Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in good standing; or
- Graduate of a qualifying Mental Health Counseling program who is eligible to pursue Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern status.
- Ability to provide counseling services in compliance with applicable Florida laws, professional ethics, supervision requirements, and organizational policies.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background screenings, drug testing, and any licensing or regulatory requirements applicable to the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children, adolescents, families, trauma, foster care, residential care, or family systems.
- Experience in community mental health, nonprofit settings, school-based counseling, or residential care.
- Experience using electronic health records or clinical documentation systems.
- Experience building referral relationships, developing a counseling caseload, or supporting the growth of a counseling program.
- Interest in helping support the growth and development of counseling services within a nonprofit ministry environment.

- Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond appropriately to client needs, safety concerns, and crisis situations.
- Ability to complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
- Ability to represent Seamark Counseling and Seamark Ranch with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, and electronic documentation system for client records and communication.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to respond to crisis situations.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a part-time position. The work schedule may vary based on client appointments, meetings, trainings, documentation needs, and organizational requirements. Some evening availability may be required to accommodate client scheduling needs. Work may occur in a professional counseling office, residential care environment, school setting, community setting, or other approved location connected to Seamark Counseling or Seamark Ranch services.
