As our Certified Nurse Midwife, you will join our dynamic healthcare team in Tacoma, specializing in diagnosing and treating a wide array of Women’s Health cases making a significant impact on their lives and families. We pride ourselves in practicing high quality, evidence based, and patient centered medicine.
You will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of our patients and their families within Franciscan Medical Group.
To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled, board-certified, and compassionate CNM, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex OB/GYN patients, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegial and supportive environment.
This is a full-time (.80FTE) position based at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, a 375 bed Level III Trauma Center.
Our Midwife team provides full scope midwifery care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, GYN, annual exams and family planning.
There are 9 OB/GYN physicians and 18 CNM’s at this location.
The weekly schedule is variable and typically includes two 12 hour inpatient shifts and one 8 hour clinic day in a 7 day work week.
Midwives manage patients for hospital births and support in house OB backup.
Hospital culture is supportive of midwives and offers pain control options of nitrous oxide, IV meds and epidurals.
Low risk birth center available for pre-selected patients who desire natural birth and qualify for early discharge.
St. Joseph Medical Center has a Level III NICU capable of caring for infants as young as 22 weeks. We also have a partnership with Seattle Children’s for specialty newborn care if needed.
St. Joseph Medical Center has achieved Baby Friendly designation as well as recognition by the International Lactation Consultant Association for excellence in lactation care.
Our group does approximately 215 deliveries per month.
CNM Certification
Washington State RN and APNP licensures required at time of employment
DEA, NPI and prescriptive authority
Current BLS for Health Providers certification by the American Heart Association.
