Millwork Purchaser

Role Description:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchaser, located in Irvington, NJ. The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, products, supplies, and services required to support Bestmark National’s millwork manufacturing and construction projects.

The Purchaser will work closely with Project Management, Estimating, Production, Accounting, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing, coordinate material availability, and ensure purchases are delivered in accordance with project requirements and schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review project requirements, drawings, specifications, material lists, and purchase requests to determine purchasing and procurement needs.
• Source materials, hardware, components, supplies, specialty products, and services required for millwork manufacturing and construction projects.
• Obtain and compare vendor quotations based on pricing, quality, availability, lead time, and project requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery requirements with vendors and suppliers when appropriate.
• Prepare and process accurate purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to confirm pricing, specifications, quantities, purchase orders, and delivery dates.
• Track purchase orders and follow up with vendors to ensure materials and products are delivered according to project schedules.
• Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors, while supporting the development and maintenance of an effective supplier network.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Estimating, and Production to identify upcoming material requirements, procurement priorities, and potential delays.
• Identify alternate products, materials, or suppliers when necessary to meet project requirements, availability, budget, or schedule needs.
• Review vendor confirmations, invoices, and related purchasing documentation for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate department.
• Monitor material availability, pricing, and lead times and communicate potential impacts to project costs or schedules.
• Support cost-control efforts by obtaining competitive pricing, evaluating purchasing options, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, purchase orders, and project documentation, and coordinate with Accounting regarding invoices and vendor-related discrepancies.
• Follow Bestmark National's quality, safety, and company procedures and perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Production Manager.

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, or a related position.
• Experience in millwork, construction, manufacturing, architectural woodworking, or a related industry is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to review and understand specifications, drawings, material requirements, and purchase documentation.
• Strong negotiation, vendor-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Able to work independently and effectively with a team.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects, vendors, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work overtime when needed.
