MLT (FullTime)

Description

Meade District Hospital is looking to hire a Full-Time MLT for our lab department.  

Position Summary:

Collects specimens and performs medical laboratory tests, procedures and analysis in clinical chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, bacteriology, and blood bank to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention for disease. 

Responsibilities:

• Meet  attendance and punctuality guidelines
• Adhere to policies and procedures
• Maintain  patient and system confidentiality
• Conducts   chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid to   determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
• Studies   blood cells, their numbers, and morphology through automated and manual      testing in hematology.
• Performs   blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Records reactions in blood bank  log. Enters results into computer  system
• Performs urinalysis and serology testing according to accepting procedures. Records reactions on appropriate form      and results in the computer.
• Sets  up, reads and reports results of bacteriological cultures.
• Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data and records      quality control and actions.
• Reads  and records daily temperature of instruments, refrigerator(s), freezer(s),      and room(s).
• Performs  and records routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and      equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
• Performs  phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Covers  call and weekends as assigned (one-two days during the week, one weekend   every month, and rotating holidays)
