## The group you\u2019ll be a part of\n\n \n\nThe Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.\n\n \n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nGlobal Engineering Leadership: Senior executive overseeing all CSBG engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems) aligned to business strategy and revenue growth reporting to CSBG Engineering CVP\n\nTechnology Strategy \u0026 Execution: Enterprise-wide ownership of product development, sustaining, service/upgrades, and lifecycle solutions for the installed base\n\nOperational Excellence: Champions quality, reliability, safety compliance, and process rigor (PPL, PR, NSR, escalations)\n\nFinancial Stewardship: Manages engineering budgets, headcount, and project costs\n\nTalent \u0026 Culture: Builds leadership bench strength, fosters innovation and continuous learning, drives alignment of talent and culture with organizational strategy, structure, systems.\n\nCross-Functional Partnership: Collaborates with Business Units, Operations, Supply Chain, Field/Service, and customers to deliver world-class support solutions\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\nTechnology Strategy \u0026 Execution: Craft the technology strategy to accomplish CSBG\u2019s broader objectives. Provide executive oversight of CSBG\u2019s end\u2011to\u2011end engineering execution across new product development, sustaining, upgrades, and service solutions. Lead multi\u2011disciplinary teams to deliver high\u2011quality, reliable, and cost\u2011effective solutions on time and on budget. Drive innovation through adoption of automation, analytics, RF \u0026 power electronics, and mechatronics to improve equipment performance, reliability, and uptime.\n\n\u200bOperational Excellence \u0026 Disciplined Execution: Champion rigorous engineering processes and governance, ensuring consistent application of Lam frameworks (PDR, PPL, EPL, PR/NSR). Enforce strong quality and reliability standards through disciplined design reviews, root\u2011cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Monitor and act on key performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, on\u2011time delivery, beta success, field quality). Ensure rapid, effective resolution of critical field escalations and institutionalize lessons learned.\n\n\u200bFinancial Management \u0026 Resource Accountability: Own CSBG Engineering budgets, headcount, and resource allocation across global teams. Manage OPEX and CAPEX to meet financial targets while balancing innovation, customer needs, and cost. Drive cost reduction through design\u2011for\u2011cost, value engineering, and supplier optimization. Track financial performance and adjust plans to maximize ROI, margins, and execution predictability.\n\n\u200b\n\nTalent Development \u0026 Succession: Build and sustain a high\u2011performing global engineering organization. Develop future leaders through mentoring, succession planning, and targeted skills development. Strengthen critical capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering using structured training, cross\u2011functional exposure, and leadership development to ensure scalability and long\u2011term organizational health.\n\n## What you\u0027ll do, cont\u0027d\n\nCross-Functional Partnership \u0026 Customer Collaboration: Partner with CSBG Business Units, Operations, Supply Chain, and Field teams to deliver customer\u2011aligned engineering solutions. Translate customer needs and business priorities into engineering actions aligned with product roadmaps. Drive design\u2011for\u2011manufacturability and cost reduction with Operations and Supply Chain. Engage key customers as needed to resolve complex issues and improve equipment performance, reliability, and uptime.\n\n\u200bEngineering Domain Team Leadership (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems): Lead and integrate CSBG\u2019s Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams to deliver cohesive, high\u2011quality hardware solutions globally.\n\n\u200bMechanical Engineering: Guide global mechanical teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, and cost\u2011effective designs. Set standards for CAD quality, GD\u0026T, FEA, and validation testing. Drive design\u2011for\u2011manufacturability and cost reduction while maintaining reliability and serviceability.\n\n\u200bElectrical Engineering: Oversee power, controls, electronics, RF, and sensor integration to meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements (SEMI, CE, electrical codes). Drive innovation in power and control architectures and ensure rigorous validation (EMI/EMC, electrical safety).\n\n\u200bSystems Engineering: Own system\u2011level architecture, requirements, and integration across hardware, controls, firmware, and software. Ensure clear requirements management, interface control, and system\u2011level testing. Maintain system theory\u2011of\u2011operation and accountability for performance, reliability, and customer outcomes.\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s degree or equivalent with 20+ years of related experience and 10+ years in mgmt. An advanced degree preferred.\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\nEducational Background: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (required).\n\nProfessional Experience: 20+ years of progressive professional experience in engineering or high-technology environments, demonstrating increasing responsibilities.\n\nLeadership \u0026 Management: 10+ years of engineering leadership and people management experience, including leading sizable, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.\n\nBroad Technical Expertise: Comprehensive engineering background spanning mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering domains, enabling oversight of complex integrated hardware systems.\n\nHardware Development \u0026 Sustaining: Demonstrated experience driving full product lifecycle for complex hardware or system products \u2013 from initial development through launch and sustained support of an installed customer base.\n\nEngineering Process Ownership: Proven track record of owning and improving core engineering business processes (e.g. product development cycles, sustaining engineering, product upgrades, managing PR/NSR issues, and handling technical escalations).\n\nFinancial \u0026 Operational Acumen: Experience managing sizable engineering budgets, headcount planning, and making strategic investment trade-off decisions to meet business and operational objectives.\n\nGlobal Leadership: Demonstrated success leading global, cross-cultural engineering teams, fostering collaboration across multiple regions and cultural contexts.\n\nCross-Functional \u0026 Customer Engagement: Strong capability in leading cross-functional initiatives (e.g. partnering with product, manufacturing, customer support) and proven customer-facing leadership in addressing client requirements and technical escalations.\n\nExecutive Communication \u0026 Decision-Making: Exceptional executive-level communication skills and strategic decision-making ability, with experience presenting to senior leadership and guiding high-impact business decisions.\n\n## Our commitment\n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
