Motor Vehicle Mechanic

JP Logistics & Consulting LLC (JPLC) is seeking a talented Motor Vehicle Mechanic to work in a unique, dynamic environment. 

Location: Tyndall AFB, FL

Job Start Date: April 1, 2027

Hours of Operation: 07:00 AM - 4:00 PM – May be required to work outside normal hours

Salary: $23.71 per hour

Scope: The Motor Vehicle Mechanic must be an automotive technician (e.g., mechanics, service technicians) and shall possess current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in medium/heavy duty truck specialty or possess 3 years’ experience in medium/heavy duty vehicle maintenance. The employee shall provide a minimum of 1 individual with a Class A Commercial Driver’s license as required to haul equipment/attachments when needed for maintenance purposes. Perform additional duties as required.

The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors. Work involves most of the following: diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Provide preventative maintenance and repairs on the following vehicles, but not limited to:

General Purpose & Base Maintenance/Construction

Non-Registered Equipment

Military Design vehicles

Fire Trucks

Qualifications:

• ASE Certified


• High School diploma or equivalent
  
  

Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen.


• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Must have experience in wiring, electronics, automotive mechanical repairs, welding, and machine shop fundamentals.


• Must be able to speak fluent English.


• Must possess a valid driver's license.


• Must obtain a favorable, trustworthy determination.


• Must pass pre-employment drug testing.


• Must be Flexible.

Contingency Situations:

Able to respond to certain after-hours work (additional workload, natural disasters, military peacetime and wartime contingency operations/exercises, serious accidents, civil disturbances, major mobilization, or repatriation of non-combatants) may necessitate the employee be flexible in arranging different levels of support, which may include overtime work.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Work is normally performed in office, garage, outside, and warehouse environments. Must completely understand and be physically capable of performing all aspects of the mission.


• Must be capable of working in an outside environment, exposed to heat, dust, inclement weather, primarily standing on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours in a workday.


• Frequent bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks.
