Neurology and Sleep Disorders Assistant / Neurology / Full Time / DaysA Neurology and Sleep Disorders Assistant provides coordination of patients and visitors, supports clinical staff, provides excellent customer service and efficient clerical support while maintaining patient confidentiality.MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate onboarding of patient from referral through patient scheduling
2. Answers and route phone calls coming in to department
3. Obtains pre-certifications and/or pre-authorizations for all sleep testing where applicable
4. Calculates out of pocket expense for patients
5. Schedules patient appointments
6. May respond and follow up with referrals and inquiries from patients and effectively resolve issues.
7. May assist in automating existing processes or recommend changes to management
8. Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
1) Excellent problem-solving skills
2) Interpersonal skills including excellent customer service and attention to detail
3) Adept in communicating and working effectively with different types of people on all levels, i.e. coworkers. providers, insurance, etc.
4) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5) Must be able to communicate clearly with patients of all education levels.
6) Ability to work without close supervision and to set own priorities.
7) Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
8) Utilization of electronic health record software
9) Recognize, understand basic medical terminology
10) Familiarity with HIPPA
11) Insurance and billing knowledge
12) Must be proficient in use of Microsoft programs, i.e. Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Office
Minimum Education:
• High school diploma or GED (with healthcare office support experience)
Preferred Education:
• Associates degree in office or business management
Minimum Experience:
• Two years’ experience working in healthcare office
WORK SCHEDULE
• Full time
• 40 hrs./week
• Dayshift
• Flexibility to meet department needs
