JOB SUMMARY
Support the Southern California Conference (“SCC”) in accomplishing its mission, “to exalt Christ by cultivating healthy churches and schools” and its core values of integrity with transparency, engagement, stewardship, unity in diversity, and relationships & team.
The principal is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Academy and is charged with providing leadership that maintains and forwards Newbury Park Academy’s commitment to excellence, as well as providing a vision for the future. The principal is responsible for and must be committed to leadership which implements the principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, its denominational beliefs and particular approach to education, in all aspects of the academy’s daily operations. Daily operations include the spiritual domains of the academy; Board of Trustees goals and objectives; curriculum and instruction matters; faculty and staff performance evaluations; general academy administration and management; fundraising; collaboration with the Chairperson of the Board, School Board members and the assigned Superintendent of Schools; collaboration with NPAA auxiliary groups (Alumni Association, Foundation, and Parent Association); and collaboration with community groups for the advancement of NPAA goals and objectives. In addition, the principal oversees and works with the Treasurer to ensure sound management in all fiscal and facility operations. The principal serves as the chief spokesperson for the academy and as the Executive Secretary for the School Board. The principal represents NPAA serving on conference and union committees as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be practicing members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and should possess an advanced degree in Educational Administration and Leadership or in an appropriate content area.
An MA, Med, or Ed.S. is desirable. They must hold, or be eligible to hold, the appropriate regular teacher and administrative certificates as issued by the North American Division’s Office of Education of Seventh-day Adventists.
The selected candidate will have three or more years of successful administrative leadership at the Academy (high school) level, with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. The candidate is a proven instructional leader, capable of helping teachers achieve appropriate academic outcomes, and must have a demonstrated ability to use appropriate data in decision-making.
Experience with institutional fundraising and development is required, and experience with minority student populations is a plus. The selected candidate will need to complete a Live Scan and obtain background check clearance.

COMPENSATION
The position has a salary, within the range listed above, and benefits that are in keeping with the
compensation structure of the Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the Pacific
Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The compensation structure includes a full range of employee benefits, including major medical, dental and vision.
