NTP-Gallatin Mechanical Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Tubular Products is seeking candidates for the position of Mechanical Engineer II at our Ghent, KY site. The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to safely lead improvement efforts across the site by engaging with production and maintenance teammates at all levels to identify areas of opportunity and take care of our customers. The successful candidate will use their strong fundamental knowledge of engineering management principles to successfully lead small and large-scale projects. They will have a commitment to safety above all else, be goal-oriented, cost and quality-minded, and results-driven. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Hands-on work with area teams to troubleshoot plant issues, interpret and explain drawings


• Preparation of proposal layout, description, timeline, RFQs, specifications, and budgets for capital and other large projects


• Updating and creating plant and equipment drawings, working with document management systems Design of small structures and improved
  parts/equipment


• Knowledge of current codes, regulations, and standards in various disciplines

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four year degree from an accredited university in mechanical engineering


• 5 years experience as a mechanical engineer in an industrial environment


• Proficient with AutoCAD for 2D CAD and Inventor for 3D CAD

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ Years of experience in leading cross-functional projects, including electrical and civil engineering, in an industrial environment
