Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Nuclear Medicine department including radiation protection practices. 1. Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures of diagnostic and therapeutic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols. Evaluates diagnostic Nuclear Medicine studies for technical image quality. 2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the Nuclear Medicine procedure. 3. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed Nuclear Medicine safety standards. Performs Quality Control/Quality Assurance as required. 4. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques. 5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction 7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Type of degree: Allied Health Area of study or major: Nuclear Medicine Technology Preferred experience: One year experience in specialized field of Nuclear Medicine Knowledge of Ohio Department of Health rules & regulations Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage Nuclear Medicine registry required ODH licensure required ARRT RT (R) registry required and/or NMTCB
