Job Description - Nurse Anesthetist

Description

General summary: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides care to patients by administering safe, sound, and cost effective anesthesia. Practices both autonomously and in collaboration with a variety of health providers on the interprofessional team to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management.

This is a Monday through Friday position with no call, no weekends, and no holiday requirements. 

All RRH employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all RRH Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a CRNA Recommended.
  • Holds current active state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas and complies with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNAs.
  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia      Educational Programs or its predecessor. 
  • Is currently certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. 
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state. 
  • Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities.
  • Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required upon hire or within 6 months. 
  • Experience with regional anesthesia blocks to include Epidurals, Spinals, Interscalene, and Femoral Nerve bocks, Recommended.
