Nurse Manager (Same Day Surgery) - Full Time, Days

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Same-Day Surgery Nurse Manager at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tinley Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The Same-Day Surgery Nurse Manager has responsibility and accountability for planning, organizing, and directing all activities relating to patient care within the designated ASC area. Responsibilities include directing the delivery of quality patient care in a financially responsible manner through collaboration with the Clinical Director, medical staff, and other professional and support staff throughout the organization.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides overall leadership and accountability for ASC perioperative operations, including planning, organizing, directing patient care, assessing acuity, establishing priorities, and ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality care in collaboration with clinical, medical, and administrative leadership.
• Leads workforce planning and staff management, including recruitment, selection, staffing levels, scheduling, performance management, employee relations, recognition, corrective action, and collaboration with Human Resources on union-related matters and grievances.
• Promotes staff development and clinical competence through orientation, education, in-services, identification of learning needs, professional development, and ongoing evaluation of staff readiness and performance.
• Provides strategic oversight for new and expanding services, including surgeon onboarding, block utilization, equipment and supply readiness, credentialing progress, capital needs, and implementation of new procedures, programs, and service-line initiatives.
• Leads quality, safety, and performance improvement activities, including QAPI/PI, review of quality metrics and operational trends, infection prevention, patient and provider concerns, action planning, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with the Medical Director, physicians, and multidisciplinary leaders to address provider, patient care, behavioral, infection control, utilization, block allocation, and operational concerns while supporting effective communication and resolution.
• Provides strategic financial oversight through budget development, volume and staffing analysis, financial reviews, expenditure monitoring, cost containment, capital planning, procurement, annual purchase orders, and revenue-cycle accountability.
• Oversees ASC governance, regulatory, accreditation, and licensure readiness, including Medical Care Committee activities, credentialing oversight, CMS and state requirements, ASC quality reporting, radiation safety, contracts, and other compliance initiatives.
• Provides operational oversight of business office and support functions, including scheduling, insurance processes, credentialing, pharmacy coordination, procurement, and multidisciplinary committee participation to advance organizational efficiency, growth, and strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing 
• Current RN Illinois License
• Must hold an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association 
• Minimum of 2-5 years of nursing or surgical management experience, preferably in an operating room or multispecialty outpatient setting
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively 
• Experience with survey/auditing and regulatory agencies
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Competence in operational oversight, vendor management, and quality assurance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
• Experience managing in a union environment
