Job Description - Nurse Practitioner Full Time - Round Rock

The Pediatric Primary Care & Urgent Care Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) delivers comprehensive, age-appropriate care to pediatric patients across both primary care and urgent care clinic settings — in-person and virtual. This is a dual-role position encompassing the full spectrum of pediatric care: managing acute episodic conditions in an urgent care capacity as well as ongoing preventive care, well-child visits, and chronic disease management in a primary care capacity. The Provider serves patients from infancy through young adulthood, functioning as a consistent, trusted care partner across all settings.

Essential Functions

Primary Care & Urgent Care (Dual Role)

• Deliver comprehensive pediatric care across both primary care and urgent care settings (in-person and virtual), seamlessly transitioning between episodic acute visits and longitudinal preventive/chronic care as needed.

• Provide urgent care services including acute illness and injury evaluation, same-day sick visits, and episodic care for walk-in and scheduled urgent needs.

• Provide primary care services including well-child visits, annual wellness exams, school and sports physicals, routine developmental screenings, and chronic disease follow-up.

• Perform thorough physical examinations and developmental/health assessments appropriate to all pediatric age groups, from infancy through young adulthood.

• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric illnesses and injuries appropriate to licensure and scope of practice.

• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests including labs and imaging in both urgent and primary care contexts.

• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment and care plans for acute presentations and ongoing chronic conditions.

• Administer and manage childhood and adolescent immunizations in accordance with current CDC/AAP schedules.

• Manage pediatric chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, ADHD, allergies, obesity) including medication management and care coordination, providing continuity across both care settings.

• Provide health coaching, patient education, and counseling to patients and their families across urgent and primary care encounters.

• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and transition patient care as needed across both care modalities.

• Ensure continuity of care including appropriate follow-up for patients seen in urgent care who require primary care follow-through, and vice versa; facilitate referrals to specialty care as indicated.

• Accurately and timely chart and document all patient interactions in the electronic health record (EHR).

• Communicate effectively with diverse populations including team members, patients, families, and external partners.

• Assist and train teammates as requested.

• Provide exceptional customer/patient service consistent with the company mission and core values.

• Travel to clinic locations as needed to ensure appropriate staffing coverage across urgent care and primary care sites.

• Work cooperatively with all organizational teams, responding to correspondence in a timely manner (within 24–48 hours unless urgent).

• Monitor company email regularly and respond appropriately and in a timely manner (within 24–48 hours unless urgent).

• Maintain regular and reliable attendance, as this is a core requirement that directly impacts quality patient care.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Exceptional patient care and customer service skills with a strong pediatric focus across both primary care and urgent care settings.

• Sound diagnostic, clinical assessment, and clinical reasoning skills specific to pediatric populations in both acute/episodic and longitudinal/preventive care contexts.

• Ability to manage both acute urgent care presentations and chronic primary care conditions with confidence and competence.

• Ability to fluidly transition between the pace and mindset of urgent care and the relationship-based continuity of primary care.

• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with pediatric patients, parents, guardians, and caregivers.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple patient care responsibilities.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Adaptable and able to learn new technologies, assess situations quickly, and contribute to process improvements.
