The Nursing Scheduler reports to the Director of Nursing. His/her responsibility is to provide services to the Nursing Department. The main responsibility is the preparation of the nursing schedule and work to maintain adequate staffing for all shifts. The Scheduler will also accept responsibility for other secretarial duties related to the Nursing Department.
Prepare nursing schedule for all shifts. This includes RN’s, LPN’s, Treatment Nurse, CMT’s, CNA’s, NA’s, Feeding Assistants, Medical Records Clerk, and agency staffing (communication with representative, agency employees to assure their guaranteed hours are met through the schedule).
2. Record and replace call-ins. Monitor attendance for consequences.
3. Manage and utilize a mandate system to always assure sufficient staff coverage.
4. Calculate daily nursing staff totals and post in appropriate locations.
5. Refilling nursing forms at the 200- and 300-Unit Nurse Stations.
6. Assist Director of Nursing as needed.
7. Assist Medical Records Clerk as needed.
8. Meet with new employees as needed to work out scheduling, explain requests off, etc.
9. Assures nursing staff schedules, clock punches, and timecards are approved through payroll system and is consistent with PBJ reporting.
10. Monitor and track extra shifts worked for bonus pay out.
11. Provides information to Human Resources as needed.
12. Backup relief for answering of phones.
13. All other duties as assigned
Professional Appearance should represent the facility favorably.
2. High school graduate. Must also have knowledge and/or experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
3. Outgoing/Confident Personality.
4. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal relations skills and capability of relating to a variety of people and personalities. Ability to be fair and consistent, shows considerable initiative and good judgment skills.
5. Must possess a high level of flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in work loads and or assignments. Regular work hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
6. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality by keep employee information confidential, including reasons for call-ins, etc.

8. Reliability - The Nursing Secretary must be prompt and consistent in his/her
performance.
1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
2. Must be able to lift 10-25 lbs., carry, stand, bend, squat and reach using good body mechanics.
3. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability to cope with any mental or emotional stress associated with the position.
