Job Description - Nutritional Services Lead | Full Time

Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Monitors department workflow during assigned shifts, ensuring completion of essential tasks.

  • Enforces compliance with organization and department policies, processes, and procedures

  • Document staff absences/incidents during assigned shifts.

  • Assists with onboarding and training of new and existing team members

  • Serves as a resource to department staff for questions or problems, and escalates as necessary.

  • Provides department leadership with input regarding areas of deficiency and recommended corrective actions.

  • Share and support organizational and departmental goals and communications

  • Leads by example and promotes STAR standards in all interactions


Department Specific Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Conducts routine patient/resident nutritional screening which includes food/fluid intake information.

  • Implements diet plans and physicians’ diet orders using appropriate modifications.

  • Documents nutritional screening data in the medical records (i.e. care plans, MDS, etc.)

  • Work with Dietician on care plans and attend Resident care conferences.

  • Work with Dietician on nutritional assessments on hospital patients.

  • Continuously improve care and service using quality management techniques.

  • Perform menu editing as directed by the Dietician.

  • Assists in orientating and in-servicing new employees to specialized diets and preparation.

  • Work with Director to develop rotational menus.

  • Assure that all paperwork for temperature charting is properly completed.

  • Work with Director to ensure schedule needs for Dietary Aides.

  • Work with Director to ensure proper onboarding of Dietary Aides.

  • Work with Director to ensure Clerks and Aides complete Relias trainings.

  • Assist Department with Special meals and functions.


Education/Experience:



  • 1-2 years of experience in the department or similar roles preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Preferred Certification in Dietary Management in the first 12 months.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, effectively monitor performance objectives, work, and make decisions under pressure, and meet deadlines, goals, and objectives as set forth.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements.

  • Actively participates in the department’s performance improvement activities, as requested

  • Complies with all the organization's policies.

  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Professionalism and strong work ethic

  • Strong leadership skills


Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:



  • Must be able to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.

  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment.

  • Ability to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
