Job Description - Occupational Therapist


A full-time Occupational Therapist opportunity is available at a 380-bed acute care hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida. This facility provides a broad range of services, including a Heart Institute with open-heart surgery, labor and delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, and both adult and pediatric emergency care, along with inpatient and outpatient surgical services. This role offers the opportunity to support patients across diverse care settings within a collaborative hospital environment.


The Occupational Therapist is responsible for managing the full occupational therapy care process for an assigned patient caseload. Working closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team, this role involves evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering skilled therapeutic interventions aimed at improving functional independence and quality of life. The therapist documents patient responses to treatment, monitors progress, and communicates care-related updates and requirements to physicians, patients, families, and the care team. Additional responsibilities include caseload prioritization, coordination of daily staffing needs, and ensuring smooth patient care transitions.


Responsibilities:




  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for assigned patients.




  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.




  • Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills and functional independence.




  • Monitor, document, and evaluate patient progress and response to treatment.




  • Communicate care updates and payer requirements to physicians, patients, families, and the care team.




  • Prioritize caseload and coordinate staffing assignments and daily workflow.




  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes.




  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.




Qualifications:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.




  • Current Occupational Therapy (OT) licensure required.




  • Minimum of one year of occupational therapy experience in acute care, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings required.




  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.




  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and organizational skills.




  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
