Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
License:
Registered Nurse – Issued by Florida or Compact State
Certification:
Certified Hematopoietic Transplant Coordinator (CHTC) by American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC)
Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) by Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) (within 2 years of hire)
Work Experience and Additional Information:
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as an RN caring for acute and chronically-ill adults and/or children. Two (2) years of experience in Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant or Hematology. Two (2) years of experience with clinical research and insurance prior authorization, or transplant contracting.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Under supervision of the Director of Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy Program, the ONC Transplant Coordinator coordinates evaluation and preparation of patients for Hematopoietic Stem Cell (HSC) transplantation, cellular therapies and long-term management of patients post-treatment. Coordinates patient care across outpatient clinics, inpatient nursing unit and community to provide continuity of patient care across settings. Serves as a clinical resource for other team members, patients/family/caregivers, referring case managers and community clinicians. Demonstrates knowledge and competence regarding management and care of patients with oncologic and hematologic malignancies and other diseases treated with HSC transplantation and cellular therapies. Exercises wide latitude in decision-making within written organizational and department policies and principles. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
