Title: OpenVMS Administrator

Duration: 24 Months

Location: Schenectady, NY

Day to Day Tasks

 Assist the System team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to:

 Install, upgrade and maintain OpenVMS on HP Alpha and Integrity servers.

 Setup and monitor backup processes and establish restore procedures.

 Perform maintenance or emergency tasks off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed.

 Provide system support for OpenVMS based email interconnect products including PMAS and PMDF.

 Work with AD/Exchange team and Unix Administrator to insure mail routing across platforms is compatible and successful.

 Provide system and administrative support for OpenVMSAllin1/Office Server email system until the OPWDD EOL requirements are met. Perform extensive and detailed restoration and recovery work for FOIL and investigative requests.

 Monitor and Manage system procedures and related Web Services that collect and distribute account data across platforms for use by the OPWDD Account Management utilities.

 Monitor and maintain System procedures and related Web Service utilities used for CIFS on OpenVMS File Share setup and monitoring.

 Work with teams of application programmers, systems administrators and database architects to create solutions to meet business goals.

 Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs, and modifying resource allocations as needed.

 Provide recommendations on technical architecture.

 Perform enhancements to OpenVMS operating system security in regards to Agency and NYS Office of Cyber Security requirements

Requested Qualifications

84 months experience administering a large complex OpenVMS environment configuring and administering print queues, user accounts, TCP/IP services, security policies, systems performance monitoring and analysis. upgrades, patches, and layered products installations. At least 1 year of experience since July 2011.

84 months experience installing, configuring and supporting PMDF Internet mail gateway including PMDF version 6.5 on an Open VMS platform running on Alpha or Integrity server in support of interoperability of multi -platform messaging involving OpenVMS, Microsoft Exchange and Unix Sendmail including a working knowledge of TLS and SSL

At least 1 year of experience since July 2011.

84 months experience administering HP/Compaq Office Server for Open VMS (All-in-1) including 1 yr with version 6.1 of Office Server on Alpha Server running OpenVMS Version 8.3

84 months experience with HP/Compaq Office Server for Open VMS (All-in-1) file structures and Shared areas for restoring and extracting data related to FOIL requests and investigative inquiries

36 months experience performing administration on OpenVMS 8.4 clusters on Integrity Servers and Alpha Servers. At least 1 year since July 2011

48 months experience installing, configuring and supporting Precise Mail Anti Spam (PMAS) on an OpenVMS Itainum platform including experience with PMAS V3.0 or higher.

48 mo experience querying, extracting and reporting from DNS, Active Directory, and LDAP

36 months experience installing, configuring and administering Apache web servers on Open VMS platforms utilizing PERL. At least 1 year since July 2011

36 months experience installing, configuring and administering IIS web servers utilizing Visual Basic.Net. on Microsoft platforms. At least 1 year since July 2011.

24 months experience installing, configuring and administering MS SQL Server including command line scripting

18 + months experience installing, configuring and managing CIFS in a Open VMS environment.
