Job Profile Summary

The Operating Room Attendant performs environmental, equipment and supply maintenance services for operating rooms. Assists in transportation of patients to and from the ORs and other duties as specified by the leadership.

Job Description

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. GENERAL DUTIES

  • Reports any nonfunctional or broken equipment to the management.
  • Ensures all movable equipment is safely stored, supplies are removed form hallways and stored in respective spaces. Assists in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
  • Accurately identifies specific patients prior to transport to surgery by.
  • Uses appropriate cleaning solutions for equipment. Cleans and remakes equipment after each use.
  • Assists the operative team in the operating room with turnover between cases.
  • Interacts with patients, families, visitors, fellow employees to ensure a professional and courteous environment.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department or service safety, and specific job-related hazards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent ; 2 years of experience in lieu of diploma

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to read chemical labels and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to perform simple mathematical calculations with a reasonable degree of accuracy.
  • Worker receives on-the-job training under close supervision and requires a minimum of training to become proficient.
  • Personable manner and polite communication skills essential.
  • Demonstrated a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with physicians, families, visitors, peers and other departments.
  • High visible acuity is imperative.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Required: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
