Operator - Organics Facility

Position: Organics Recycling Facility Operator
Location: Agawam, MA

Vanguard Renewables is a leader in the development, ownership, and operation of anaerobic digesters across the United States. We specialize in converting organic waste into renewable energy, including green electricity and renewable natural gas, through our closed-loop anaerobic digestion process. We also produce other valuable byproducts that contribute to a sustainable future.

As an Organics Recycling Facility (ORF) Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility. This position focuses on the depackaging of food waste and managing incoming truckloads of organic materials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the depackaging of food waste and products brought into the facility.
• Assist in managing daily truck deliveries of organic waste.
• Collaborate with team leads to maintain standards for depackaging workflows.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment and monitor process flow.
• Accurately track operational parameters and respond to trends indicating potential issues.
• Generate work orders in the management software for repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Support the creation and upkeep of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Uphold the company’s commitment to a safe, accident-free work environment.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and programs.
• Provide limited oversight to outside contractors to ensure they follow safety protocols.
• Maintain regular communication with team members to ensure facility productivity within operational limits.
• Support plant housekeeping and material handling safety programs.
• Participate in the execution of preventive maintenance activities.
• Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in maintenance and operation within an industrial processing environment.
• Relevant military experience or related technical training is a plus.
• Solid understanding of safety protocols in industrial settings.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
• Strong analytical skills to assess data and provide recommendations.
• Basic proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Working Conditions:

• Work in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
• Potential exposure to hazardous materials or toxic fumes, requiring the use of protective equipment.
• Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other industrial conditions.
• Adherence to safety guidelines and company protocols is mandatory.
