Job Description - Ophthalmologist

Clovis, CA | Starting Salary $404,000+ | Up to $470K in Bonuses

The Opportunity

A physician-led team in California's Central Valley is adding a fellowship-trained Corneal specialist to its Ophthalmology group. You'll practice a 60/40 cornea-to-general ophthalmology case mix in a modern facility with strong support and room to grow into leadership. This is a rare combination of clinical focus, long-term financial security, and one of the most comprehensive compensation and benefits structures available in the specialty.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Starting salary of $404,000 with guaranteed annual increases — year two expected above $440K, with long-term potential near $500K
  • $220,000 sign-on bonus (forgiven over 7 years)
  • Home loan program covering 10% of your purchase price up to $250K with interest covered for 10 years
  • True pension plan — earn up to 50% of your average income paid in retirement (2% per year for 20 years, 1% per year thereafter, 5-year vesting)
  • Employer retirement contribution of ~$26,000/yr plus 401(k) salary deferral plan
  • PSLF-eligible — Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualification
  • Annual incentives of $8K–$12K plus shareholder bonus after 3 years ($12K–$15K/yr, max $20K)
  • 4–6 weeks PTO depending on tenure (includes holidays), plus additional unit-based PTO from call back
  • $5,000 CME allowance and one week CME time annually
  • Free medical and dental coverage with low pharmacy costs
  • Malpractice fully covered
  • Relocation allowance up to $10K
  • Additional benefits: family care, wellness programs, legal services, childcare support, identity theft protection, pet insurance, travel insurance, professional dues, disability coverage, and employee discounts

Your Day-to-Day

  • Perform corneal procedures across approximately 60% of your caseload, with 40% dedicated to general ophthalmology
  • Work a balanced schedule that includes one day off every other week
  • Practice in a well-equipped, modern facility alongside a collaborative team with diverse clinical skills
  • Develop and expand your clinical expertise with opportunities to move into leadership over time

What We're Looking For

  • MD or DO with fellowship training in cornea
  • Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligibility for a California medical license
  • Strong interest in long-term, collaborative practice

Ready to Apply?

This is an exceptional opportunity for a corneal specialist who wants top-tier compensation, a genuine pension, meaningful loan forgiveness options, and a practice environment built for the long term — all in a region that offers affordable housing, excellent schools, year-round sunshine, and access to Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and the California coast.
