Position Overview and Responsibilities:


This is an opportunity for a self-motivated, hardworking, team player to fill an OPS Toll Collector position at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. This is a part-time position, working up to 29hrs per week and does not include health benefits. This includes working a rotating schedule including weekends, holidays, evenings, and early mornings.


 


The primary function of this position is to provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact on entering Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.


 


Responsible for greeting visitors at the Park entrance and providing information pertaining to the park and park activities. Informing visitors of the park rules and providing directions. Collect fees, operate a point-of-sale cash register; accurately collects, record and reconciles revenue collected.


 


Maintain an organized workspace, answer phones and operate radio equipment. Complete and reconcile receipts and reports. Cleaning of the inside of the ranger station, including the restroom.


 


VISITOR SERVICES/VISITOR EDUCAITON – Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.


 


MAINTENANCE – Maintains cleanliness of grounds, parking areas, facilities and restrooms.


 


Performs other related duties as required.


 


 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


KNOWLEDGE OF:


Performing cleaning and groundskeeping duties


Basic computer skills to be able to fill in short reports


Communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets


 


SKILLS IN:
Computer applications such as Microsoft Office


Interest in providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities


High-quality visitor contact experiences

ABILITY TO:


Apply maintenance trades


Communicate verbally and in writing


Perform physical labor and janitorial duties


Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner


Deal with people and maintain good public relations


Notify the public rules and regulations


Prepare and keep accurate reports


Follow verbal and written instructions


Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others


Understand and apply directives, policies, laws and regulations


 


 


Minimum Qualifications:


Valid Driver’s License


Work rotating shifts including, nights, holidays and weekends


 


 


Position of Special Trust Requirement:


This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.


 


 


Pay:


$15/hour


Up to 29hrs a week

Situated on the banks of the legendary Suwannee River, this center honors the memory of American composer Stephen Foster, who wrote “Old Folks at Home,” the song that made the river famous. The museum features exhibits about Foster’s most famous songs, and his music can be heard emanating from the park’s 97-bell carillon throughout the day. Every Memorial Day weekend, the park hosts the Florida Folk Festival. Other events include concerts, weekend retreats, a regional quilt show, holiday light display and in antiques tractor show.
