Job Description - Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Investigations Manager - West Coast

The Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Investigations Manager is responsible for leading efforts to identify, investigate, and mitigate organized retail crime impacting store operations and profitability. This role involves working closely with law enforcement agencies, gathering and analyzing intelligence, conducting surveillance, and building cases for prosecution. The manager also collaborates with internal teams to strengthen theft prevention strategies and promote a safe environment for both customers and associates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead complex investigations into organized retail crime, including professional theft rings and large-scale fraud schemes.

  • Develop strong partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement to support successful case resolution and prosecution.

  • Utilize open-source intelligence (OSINT), surveillance methods, and case management tools to gather and analyze evidence.

  • Identify theft trends and loss patterns through review of inventory exception reports and other retail data.

  • Conduct surveillance operations using mobile, static, and electronic techniques while ensuring safety and discretion.

  • Maintain comprehensive and confidential case files, including written reports, video documentation, and supporting evidence.

  • Provide guidance and training to store teams on ORC awareness, prevention techniques, and proper incident reporting.

  • Stay informed on emerging ORC tactics and industry best practices to proactively address evolving threats.

  • Additional duties and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in asset protection, ORC investigations, or law enforcement.

  • Proven ability to manage complex investigations and collaborate with law enforcement agencies.

  • Solid understanding of retail theft trends, investigative procedures, and relevant criminal laws.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficient in surveillance techniques and use of case management systems.

  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Availability to travel up to 50% and work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of CCTV systems and retail security technologies.

  • Experience providing testimony in legal proceedings.

  • Familiarity with e-commerce fraud detection and open-source investigative tools.

  • Punctuality and regular attendance consistent with the company’s policies are required for the position.

  • Average work week is 40-50 hours, which can vary depending on business need.

  • The work environment for this position is a moderately noisy mall / store setting. 

  • Spending up to 50% traveling (by land or air).

Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per the company policy. Pay range: $70,304 - $80,000 (Depending on Experience); 10% bonus target. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
