Position Summary

Kid's Thrive Cleveland is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging Outpatient Group Facilitator to join our daytime team. The successful candidate will support children and adolescents participating in outpatient behavioral health programming by facilitating structured group activities and helping create a safe, positive, and supportive environment.

The Outpatient Group Facilitator works collaboratively with clinical and support staff to encourage participation, reinforce healthy behaviors, and help youth develop practical skills that support emotional, social, and behavioral wellness.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate structured outpatient groups for children and adolescents.


• Create a safe, welcoming, respectful, and supportive group environment.


• Lead age-appropriate activities addressing coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, social skills, problem-solving, and positive decision-making.


• Encourage active participation and engagement among group members.


• Establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with participants.


• Monitor group interactions and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional concerns.


• Model and reinforce positive communication, cooperation, and conflict-resolution skills.


• Support participants in developing healthy coping strategies and interpersonal skills.


• Follow individual treatment plans, program procedures, safety protocols, and organizational policies.


• Observe and communicate relevant behavioral and participation information to the clinical team.


• Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines.


• Collaborate with therapists, case managers, behavioral health professionals, families, and other members of the care team as appropriate.


• Maintain confidentiality and protect participant information.


• Help maintain a clean, organized, and therapeutic group environment.


• Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and continuing education.


• Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Experience working with children, adolescents, families, education, social services, behavioral health, or a related population.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with youth.


• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.


• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.


• Dependable attendance and punctuality.


• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when managing challenging situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, education, child development, human services, or a related field.


• Previous group-facilitation experience.


• Experience working with children or adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or social needs.


• Experience in outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, schools, residential treatment, or youth-serving programs.


• Training in crisis intervention, behavioral health, de-escalation, or therapeutic group facilitation.

Typical Duties During the Day

The Outpatient Group Facilitator may be responsible for:

• Preparing materials and activities before groups.


• Welcoming participants and establishing daily expectations.


• Facilitating scheduled group sessions.


• Supporting transitions between activities.


• Monitoring participation and group dynamics.


• Reinforcing appropriate behavior and coping strategies.


• Providing observations to clinical staff.


• Completing daily documentation.


• Participating in team communication and program activities.

Work Environment

This is a full-time daytime position at Kid's Thrive Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. The position involves frequent interaction with children and adolescents and may require standing, walking, assisting with activities, and responding appropriately to routine behavioral or emotional situations.
