Start Date: On or around December 6, 2026 (baby’s due date) Location: McLean, VA Compensation: $40–$55/hour, based on experience Schedule: 10:00pm–7:00am, 5–7 nights per week Guaranteed Hours: 45 hours Commitment: Temporary, 12–16 weeks Arrangement: Live-in or live-out, based on candidate preference
A McLean, VA family is looking for a calm, dependable, and experienced Overnight Newborn Care Specialist to care for their son, due in early December 2026. The main focus is overnight care and helping the baby settle into a healthy, predictable sleep and feeding schedule. The family wants someone with real newborn experience who brings a quiet, steady, reassuring presence through the night. The home has a supportive household staff and three friendly dogs (a Mini Goldendoodle and two Pomeranians). Your shift won’t overlap with the daytime nanny’s, so you’ll keep the baby’s routine consistent around the clock through written notes and texts.
Benefits: Paid on payroll with taxes withheld, live-in or live-out option
Responsibilities:
Provide full overnight newborn care, including feeding, burping, diapering, and soothing
Prepare bottles and handle overnight feedings, following the parents’ feeding routines
Follow safe sleep practices at all times
Keep a detailed overnight log of feedings, diapers, and sleep
Leave clear written notes or text updates for the parents and daytime nanny at the end of each shift
Help the baby gradually build a healthy, predictable sleep and feeding schedule
Partner with the parents on their sleep goals and preferred approach
Share guidance and practical tips with the parents as the baby’s routine develops
Coordinate with the daytime nanny through notes and texts so the schedule stays consistent day and night
Clean and sterilize bottles and feeding supplies
Prepare bottles and supplies for the next day’s feedings
Handle baby laundry: wash, fold, and put away the baby’s clothing, bedding, and burp cloths
Keep the nursery and changing station tidy and restocked
Requirements:
In-home experience caring for newborns and infants, including overnight care (required)
Newborn Care Specialist or doula background (strongly preferred)
Experience helping families set newborn sleep and feeding schedules
Strong understanding of newborn feeding, sleep, and development

Must be able to provide 3–5 professional references
