Packaging Center Associate Job Description

Reports to: Packaging Center Supervisor/Manager

Position Summary:

The Packaging Center Associate is responsible for picking/packing products for assembly prior to creating a finished part.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Determine preparation needs for each individual packaging assignment.

  • Organize items and/or assemble kits into completed products.

  • Utilize handheld iPod device to locate inventory, assemble product and a finished part.

  • Check accuracy and prepare part for shipment utilizing tote scanning.

  • Package work orders utilizing proper packing methods.

  • Correctly inspect and assemble parts according to the provided instructions and images.

  • Perform quality control functions such as checking that labels and cards correctly identify the contents of the package, and quality checks on assembly components.

  • Meet and maintain accuracy and productivity level requirements.

  • Assist with routine cycle counts.

  • Work in team environment.

  • Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with procedures, policies, training, and regulations.

  • Ensure established policies and procedures are followed.

  • Participate in continuous improvement project team activities.

  • Partake in overall housekeeping of distribution center including cleaning, organizing, dusting, sweeping, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.


 

Education/Experience/Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or GED, required.


 

Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership, managers, leads, and peers through speaking, listening, and writing.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related equipment and software.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

  • Willing to participate in Company designated training.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision/guidance.

  • Adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.

  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the company handbook.

  • Must be able to practice safe work habits.


 

Physical Demands:

This is a General Warehouse position that requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and use of hands continuously for eight hours.  This position requires lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally with assistance lifting/moving up to 100 pounds.  This position requires extended amounts of time walking and climbing stairs.  This position requires frequent work time beyond an eight-hour shift/40-hour week including shift rotation and weekends.  This position requires the operation of basic office equipment.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
