Ventek Solutions is a leading manufacturer of engineered shape molded foam packaging and components. We are looking for an experienced Packaging Engineer to join our Technical Center in Owosso, Michigan. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead expanded foam packaging and dunnage designs from concept through product launch.
What You'll Do: ■ Support the design, development, manufacturing and implementation of both customer and Ventek-designed solutions. ■ Support sales, manufacturing, data management and costing throughout the product commercialization process. ■ Collaborate with supplier, customer and Ventek engineers on design solutions and Design for Manufacturing improvements. ■ Complete and submit design release documentation for new product launches and current product changes. ■ Schedule and lead meetings with manufacturing, sales, quality and other teams to gain buy-in on design concepts. ■ Demonstrate a personal commitment to Ventek’s safety, quality and customer satisfaction objectives.
What You Bring:
■ Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant work experience. ■ Functional and technical skills to complete assignments proficiently. ■ Broad knowledge of expanded foam design: wall thicknesses, coring, draft angles and other geometry limitations. ■ Broad knowledge of expanded foam manufacturing: machine sizes, mold parting lines, cavity layout, fill gun and knock-out locations, and minimum draft angles. ■ Broad knowledge of the package handling tests used to verify and validate proposed designs. ■ Ability to analyze and solve problems with creative and innovative solutions. ■ Effective communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with peers and co-workers. ■ Ability to self-manage projects and assignments to meet customer expectations. ■ Proficiency with 3D CAD systems for design work and CAD software to generate CNC router tool paths. ■ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) to document and present design concepts, test results and project status. ■ Ability to travel as required to meet with customers, vendors and colleagues.
