Paint Prepper

JOB SUMMARY

The Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, and sanding ensuring a smooth finish for the final paint job.

MAJOR ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Inspect surfaces for contamination, damage, or imperfections that need to be addressed before painting.

·         Clean and degrease surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint.

·         Sand and scrape surfaces to remove old paint, rust, or other imperfections, ensuring a smooth base for painting.

·         Fill cracks, dents, or other surface imperfections with appropriate filling materials to create an even surface.

·         Mask and protect areas that should not be painted, ensuring clean lines and preventing overspray.

·         Conduct a final inspection of the prepared surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards before painting begins.

·         Prepare aircraft surfaces for paint by cleaning, stripping, and abrading existing coatings and removing corrosion.

·         Adhere to safety protocols to minimize risk of injury and property damage.

·         Other duties as assigned.

·         Knowledge of Tools: Familiarity with sanding tools, paint sprayers, and other equipment used in the painting process.

·         Physical Stamina: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials. 

·         Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues and determine the best methods for surface preparation.
