Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities-

Paint System Standards, Methods & Governance (Primary Accountability)

Develop, document, and maintain corporate paint system and asset standards, including:

Paint booths(manual and robotic) Make-up air units and exhaust systems

Filtration systems (Intake, exhaust, overspray)

Ovens and cure systems

Paint mix rooms and two-component mix systems Fluid delivery, pumping, and circulation systems

• Establish standard equipment specifications for new and replacement assets.

Define system performance requirements (airflow, temperature control, humidity, filtration efficiency, cure capability). Ensure consistent implementation of paint system standards across all sites.

Asset Lifecycle Management

• Own the full lifecycle of paint system assets, including: Capital justification and technical requirements FAT/SAT participation

Commissioning and decommissioning Obsolescence planning and replacement strategy

Partner with Engineering and Operations to evaluate ROI for paint system investments.

• Maintain asset health dashboards and risk assessments.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability Strategy

Develop and deploy corporate PM standards for paint system assets(booths, ovens, mix rooms, air systems). Define PM frequencies, inspection checklists, calibration requirements, and acceptance criteria.

• Work with Maintenance and Asset Management teams to ensure PM execution and effectiveness.

• Drive reliability improvements to reduce downtime, variability, and environmental drift.

Vendor & Contractor Management

Own relationships and standards for external paint system service providers, including: Booth cleaning contractors

Filter suppliers and replacement services Oven and burner service vendors Environmental system service providers

Develop vendor scopes of work, performance metrics, and service level agreements (SLAs). Audit vendor performance and drive continuous improvement.

Standardize contractor safety, access, and work practices across plants.

Environmental Control & Compliance

Ensure paint system compliance with:

Environmental regulations (VOC, emissions, waste handling) Safety standards (fire protection, ventilation, LOTO) Customer and regulatory requirements

Partner with EHS teams to manage audits, corrective actions, and compliance documentation. Establish environmental monitoring standards for booths and ovens (airflow, humidity, temperature). Cross-Functional Coordination (System-Focused)

Work closely with:

SMC Paint Process & Application SME to align process requirements with system capability

Maintenance & Asset Management teams for PM execution

EHS for compliance and audits

Operations for uptime, capacity, and planning

Program Management for launch readiness and equipment capability reviews

Serve as the escalation point for system-level paint failures affecting uptime or compliance.

Governance, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

Track and report paint system KPls such as: Equipment uptime and availability PM compliance

Environmental stability {booth conditions)

Vendor performance metrics

Lead paint system audits and corrective actions.

Maintain controlled documentation and standards with disciplined revision control.
