Painter

JOB SUMMARY

The Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying coatings, paints, and finishes to parts and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements. This role supports production by ensuring coatings meet appearance, thickness, and protection specifications while following safety and environmental procedures.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare parts for painting by cleaning, masking, sanding, and inspecting surfaces.
• Mix paints and coatings according to specifications and manufacturer instructions.
• Apply coatings using spray guns or other approved methods.
• Operate paint booths, ovens, and curing equipment as required.
• Inspect painted parts for coverage, defects, and overall quality.
• Measure and verify coating thickness when required.
• Maintain proper identification, labeling, and traceability of parts.
• Clean and maintain paint equipment, spray guns, and work areas.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and PPE requirements, including handling of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized paint area.
• Communicate quality or process issues to supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing paint environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of surface preparation and coating processes.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift to 25 pounds.
