Job Description - Paralegal -PSOB

Aleknagik Technology, LLC (ATL) is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Paralegal to provide critical legal and administrative support to attorneys and investigators handling matters related to public safety oversight, regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, and legal policy. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing case files, conducting legal research, and assisting with litigation support and document preparation.


Description of Paralegal Work


1. Provide Legal Research


Paralegals research legislation, regulations, and cases involving Federal civil rights requirements. They also perform legal research and analysis in support of staff attorneys. Paralegals search for legal precedents in computerized legal reference systems (LexisNexis, Lexis Advance, Westlaw, and/or Westlaw Next) and analyze their applicability. They then apply the results of this research to the specific problem or issue presented. Paralegals then draft summaries of research findings, check legal citations, and prepare correspondence.


2. Provide Legal Data for Office Investigations and Compliance


Paralegals collect, organize, and review complex factual material and other documentary data for office investigations and compliance reviews. Paralegals also perform legal research.


3. Support Office Tracking Systems


Paralegals develop and maintain knowledge of office management and complaint tracking systems. They develop and enter various case materials into office case information management system. Paralegals also maintain copies of frequently referenced office decisions, instructions, and resources, and access them electronically to provide to attorneys, as necessary.


4. Support Attorney Investigative and Compliance Processes


Paralegals locate and interview witnesses and perform other support activities to assist attorneys in investigating and conducting compliance reviews.


5. Provide Administrative Support


Paralegals perform assorted administrative duties, including scanning case documents and maintaining computerized filing systems, as necessary.



Qualifications:


Required:




  • Associate degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program.




  • Minimum of [2–5] years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in a government, regulatory, or public safety context.




  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and administrative law processes.




  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite.




  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
