Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parent Academy Supervisor is responsible for working closely with the Program & 2Gen Manager todevelop the Parent Academy program that is focused on providing parents/guardians access to educational,workforce, career & supportive services they have identified through their success plan. Parent AcademySupervisor also works with CORE staff to ensure all families receive appropriate Parent Academy support.

 Description of Position:

  • Participates with team members in developing and implementing intervention strategies for parents and caretakers. 
  • Onboards parents into Parent Academy.
  • Oversees assessment of the social and emotional needs of parents via self-assessments, to determine level of need and social services for the families referred by team members. 
  • Establish and steward relationships with community agencies, build referral networks/linkages that support parents and families and maintain the Family Resource Guide.
  • Help with the development of the family onboarding processes and develop and review annual parent strength and needs assessments and success plans. 
  • Work with the Program & 2 gen manager to develop tools for the measurement of success and outcomes for parent academy including the oversight of the parent learning passport process. 
  • Oversee and create content for the Parent Academy Newsletter. 
  • Develop the processes for the Parent Advisory Board and Parent Committees to ensure representation of the parent voice from each school. Oversee enrollment and participation in the Parent Advisory Board and Parent Committees.
  • Celebrates milestones as developed by the annual organizational goals and strategic plan. 
  • Establish strong relationships with site based social emotional champions to enable open dialogue about needs, support the facilitation of home visits and find collective solutions. 
  • Remains available for crisis intervention as the need arises or arranges for such coverage by emergency social services.
  • Facilitate training for parents on topics including educational, workforce and career.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for case management, events and program effectiveness in Salesforce.
  • Participates in CORE Leadership Team meetings and ideation sessions as a thought leader in the organization. 
  • All other duties as assigned by the Program & 2 Gen Manager. 

Requirements

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Child Development, and/or Child Psychology; advanced degree in Social Work or Counseling preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct service and case management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with a diverse group of youth ages 6-18 preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations.
  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Ability to work effectively and in partnership with children, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds. 
  • Ability to monitor, analyze, consult, and report on programs and services. 
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks. 
  • Excellent command of the English language and grammar, both verbal and written. 
  • Proficient with computer applications—a thorough understanding of Apple Products and the ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed. Good command of Internet usage. 
  • Excellent follow-through and persistence when corresponding with families, teachers, and volunteers. 
  • Committed to young people, their families, and the mission of the organization.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of current trends and issues in social work with a particular focus on issues regularly experienced by youths in K-12 education. 
  • Fluent in Spanish. 

Travel and Varied-Scheduling Requirements:

  • Ability to travel independently and alone (to locations which may not be handicap accessible and may include climbing stairs) and manage travel arrangements. Must be available to travel throughout the U.S. as necessary with some overnight stays required.
  • Schedule will typically be Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

The Team Member is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The Team Member is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift/move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Must be able to manually operate and use a phone, computer, and other office equipment and have the ability to clearly hear and understand telephone conversations.

The Team Member is regularly required to sit or stand, for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are the representative of those Team Members encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on a school campus, the noise level can increase to loud.  

Team Members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the organization.
