This is a full-time Monday - Friday role working mostly day hours. Occasional evenings and weekends are required. Parent Educators earn an hourly rate of $23/hour
What you will do:
Empower parents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to create a healthy family environment
Provide home and community services to assigned case load (9-11 parents and their respective children)â¯
Develop and implement lesson and program plans for children of PLT familiesâ¯
Assistâ¯with the development of the Individual Family Service Plan for assigned caseloadâ¯
Assistâ¯withâ¯appropriate parent-childâ¯outingsâ¯and act as a positive role modelâ¯
Coordinate and track medical and dental appointments of PLT childrenâ¯
Respond to the parenting needs of families enrolled in the PLT programâ¯
Assistâ¯with medical decisions in emergency situationsâ¯
Support parents with decision making; crisis and non-crisis situations, utilizingâ¯person-centered philosophyâ¯
Participate inâ¯support plan meetingsâ¯and other conferencesâ¯regardingâ¯client needsâ¯
Maintain assigned clients’ records and reports withinâ¯identifiedâ¯guidelines and timelinesâ¯
Maintain foodâ¯and program supplies asâ¯directed by the Program Coordinatorâ¯
Develop andâ¯maintainâ¯relationships with otherâ¯serviceâ¯providers toâ¯identify resources for familiesâ¯

High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate degree in Child Development or related field preferred
Two or more years of experience working with parents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or mental health disorders in a social services environment

Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, support needs, community resources, funding sources, compliance standards, and documentation requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use program-related software and systems
Strong communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with families, coworkers, service providers, and other community partners
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when supporting families and responding to routine and crisis situations
Ability to develop, plan, and implement engaging programming and activities that meet the needs of children and families
