Job Description - Parent Partnership Coordinator

Job Description:

The Parent Partnership Coordinator works with parent advisors/partners and hospital staff across Children’s Health, as well as across all major service lines and departments/clinics to advise on the role of parents and parent involvement throughout the institution. The Parent Partnership Coordinator is responsible for aligning the participation of parent volunteers with hospital goals, while cultivating collaboration that enhances patient and family centered care.

Shift Details: Full-time (40 hrs/wk) Monday - Friday at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT
Additional Details: Experience as a parent representative on a Family Advisory Council or as the parent of a medically complex child is preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates parent advisors/partners involvement within hospital departments, committees and projects across Children’s Health. Serves as the primary contact, providing assistance and resources to hospital staff for how to best utilize parent advisors/partners and to educate hospital staff on the importance of ongoing partnership with both parent advisors/partners and the hospital Family Advisory Councils, (FAC’s).
  • Recruits and leads a team of parent advisors/partners, hospital leadership, and staff that serve on the Primary Children Hospital FAC’s.
  • Partners closely with the FAC’s executive teams (parent advisors/partners) for recruitment, screening, selection, and training of new and returning FAC members. Identifies relevant and appropriate discussion topics for monthly FAC’s meetings to provide parent perspective across hospital departments and projects. Leads and coordinates the activities of the FAC including monthly meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, distribution of meeting minutes, and attendance tracking for both parent advisor/volunteers and caregivers.
  • Serves as a liaison to the independent unit/department FAC’s (Ie: NICU, Oncology, and Cardiology) by supporting the onboarding and training of new and returning members as well as providing collaboration and support to unit/department FAC leadership.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to parent advisors/partners and serving as primary contact between parent advisors/partners and the volunteer services department, monitoring the role and performance of parent advisors/partners. Partners with Volunteer Services department to ensure that parent volunteers on all FACs stay up to date with volunteer requirements.
  • Serves as liaison between parent advisors/partners and Primary Children’s leadership and caregivers to ensure productive relationships and advocacy for the patient and family perspective. Represents the Family voice and FAC at organizational meetings, events, and communication internally within Primary Children’s Hospital.  
  • Serves as a champion for parent advisors/partners, serving with compassion, empathy, and advocacy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
